Komar University of Science and Technology Ranked 9 on Webometrics

Komar University of Science and (KUST) is the ninth university on the top 19 universities in Kurdistan according to the latest edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities for January 2016.  Webometrics came up with this result after screening and shortlisting more than 30,000 universities worldwide, and it also placed KUST at the 9.  It also regarded KUST as the 33rd out of 59 universities in Iraq.

The Webometric Ranking of World Universities is organized by the Highest Council for Scientific Research in Madrid (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas). This major ranking system of universities according to their website is updated every six months. “Webometrics” differs slightly from the conventional university ranking methods, for it relies in its assessment on carefully monitored data traffic involving each university.  Click here for further information on Webometrics.

Although this is KUST’s debut on Webometrics, it soared higher than the other universities in the region, topping the top ten universities in Kurdistan!

Thanks to the support provided by KUST President (Dr. Salah Aziz), the IT Office at the university took a giant stride on the web and made it from sheer none to nine in such a short period of time.
